In April 2008, ACO will produce a series of concerts, outreach and media events at multiple venues in New York City, NY and Philadelphia, PA featuring composers Anna Clyne, Ned McGowan and Dan Trueman. As part of ACOs Playing It UNsafe project, these composers will participate in public readings/laboratory performances of their new works by ACOs Orchestra Underground ensemble. These events will be free and open to the public on April 23 and 24 at the Skirball Center, NY. The readings will culminate in concerts at Carnegie Halls Zankel Hall on April 25 and Philadelphias Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on April 27. McGowan and Trueman will perform in their own pieces, on contrabass flute and laptop/Hardanger fiddle, respectively. As part of ACO's Composers OutFront! events, Ned McGowan will perform his own compositions with his quintet Hexnut at Brooklyns free BAMcafe concerts on April 26. At ACOs Composers OutFront! events at the Queens Public Library, Anna Clyne (cello) will perform her own pieces with her band The Curly Wurlies, and Dan Trueman (Hardanger fiddle/electronics) will perform his compositions with his ensemble QQQ. These performances are also free to the public.
