Fred Ho will perform on saxophone with the American Composers Orchestra in the world premiere of his ACO-commissioned work at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall on November 14, 2008 and at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia on November 16, 2008. Ho will also perform a Composers OutFront!, free, afternoon concert at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Dweck Center for Contemporary Culture in late September 2008. ACO will perform Makan’s new, ACO-commissioned work at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall on November 14, 2008 and at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia on November 16, 2008. Both Ho and Makan will participate in a pre-concert talk in Philadelphia at the Annenberg Center. Ho will participate in a moderated post-performance discussion with the audience at Brooklyn Library. He will also be featured in a video presented during the concert performances and made available on the ACO website as part of ACO’s on-going Composer Video Portrait series. Makan will participate in a masterclass in Philadelphia, open to UPenn’s composition students and the general public, and conduct workshops at NYU and Columbia University. Both composers will be featured in radio interviews in the NYC and Philadelphia, and ACO is pursuing feature articles in New Music Box (web) and Symphony Magazine (print) and other publications.
