John Luther Adam’s work 4,000 Holes will be a concerto, the score resembling a work for piano and orchestra, with the solo part on the usual grand staff, and the electronic sounds represented on nine lower staves. The mix of the “live” piano and electronically processed piano sounds will blur the distinction between musical figure and ground. Stephen Drury will perform at several concerts as well as record the new work.
