The Adrian Symphony performed Kenneth Fuchs’s "Discover the Wild" (for Orchestra) and "American Rhapsody" (for Violin and Orchestra) which featured violinist, Janet Sung. The concert took place in Dawson Auditorium in Adrian, MI. On May 29 and May 30, 2009 "Concerto Grosso" (for String Quartet and String Orchestra) premiered on the ASO Casual Classic Concert, Unanswered Questions. The composer was in attendance at all rehearsals which were open for the public. These rehearsals included a discussion and reception with composer. There were also Master classes which had demonstration/discussion with composer and ASO Music Director for students in music history, and conducting classes and informal sessions with student composers. ASO top level donors and Board members joined ASO music director, Dr. Fuchs, and guest violinist for an evening to hear excerpts of his music, and discuss the concert and his pieces. This event included a reception and question period. The public was invited to get to know Dr. Fuchs, hear excerpts of his music, and discuss the music on the upcoming concert. Lastly, in May there was a pre-concert Classical Conversation for concert audience that included an introduction to the composer, and a brief discussion between music director and composer on the subject of the works to be performed.
