Meet the Composer

Mr. Tcimpidis' work "The Winter and Tomorrow" for two violas and electronic disk was performed by California Summer Music's chamber music performance program participants. His work was part of a special Composers' Concert that also featured guest composer Christopher Theofanidis. The chamber music program participants were pre-professional emerging musicians studying with master teachers during the summer chamber music festival and training program. Each year, California Summer Music hosts a composition concert during their summer chamber music festival in July. At the composers' concert, David Tcimpidis and Christopher Theofanidis presented their works. An introduction of each composition preceded the performance of the work, including the history, compositional themes, context of the work, and performers. During the reception following the concert, the composers interacted with audience members individually as well as a group to answer specific questions about their works.
