In celebration of the 25th season of the Carson Chamber Singers, Carson City Symphony Association has commissioned David Dickau to write a new work for SATB chorus. The new work will be a setting of "The Heart of the Night," a poem by William Bliss Carman.
Dr. Dickau will spend three days in Nevada engaging in several public activities:
- Rehearsal of the new work, primarily for the Carson Chamber Singers, free and open to the public.
- Radio interview on KUNR (public radio for northern Nevada, to be confirmed).
- Performance of a Dickau work by a University of Nevada, Reno, choral group, and masterclass/workshop for choral singers and choral directors. All free and open to the public.
- Informal dinner reception open to members of Carson City Symphony Assoc. and Carson Chamber Singers, including discussion of new work.
- Concert preview for audience members preceding the performance.
- Public concert, premiere of commissioned work.
- Post-concert reception for musicians and audience members.
