Welcome to MTC Commissioning History, an on-line, searchable catalog of the bracing variety of works in Meet The Composer’s commissioning legacy. Represented here is an unparalleled legacy of musical creativity, including American composers of many generations in projects selected by distinguished panels and realized by committed musicians and ensembles.
This catalog is designed above all as a resource for performers, producers, presenters, and arts administrators. It is a continuing work in progress as we add to the hundreds of works already included, with an aim of reaching in a few years the full number of well over a thousand works.
Composers and commissioners can learn more about the process of commissioning new music—including suggested rates—in our helpful publication Commissioning Music: A Basic Guide.
