MTC Works aims to compile every work commissioned by Meet The Composer in its 28-year history — over 700 works and counting. MTC Works is designed above all as a resource for performers, producers, presenters, and arts administrators. This catalog of music in every style and every genre — an unparalleled legacy of musical creativity — represents American composers of many generations in projects selected by distinguished panels and realized by committed performers and ensembles. These are works singled out from their inception for their promise, with a history already of multiple performances.

This CD-ROM is a work in progress, version 1.0 of a living archive of commissioning, composition, and performance. This first version presents the fruits of the Meet The Composer-Lila Wallace/Reader's Digest Commissioning Fund, which in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts commissioned 259 works between 1988 and 1995. This was the flagship among the many commissioning programs Meet The Composer has provided, each targeted to different needs. All of these will appear in future updates.
