The Green Bay Symphony will be embarking on an ambitious three-year residency plan, building upon previous experience hosting composers-in-residence. They will engage three composers over three years: Jennifer Higdon, 2006-07, Daniel Kellogg, 2007-08 and Philip Rothman, 2008-2009. Each composer's residency will include the premiere of a commissioned work and allow for sustained interaction between the composer and Orchestra's members and larger community.
Each residency will include a Community Composition Project tailored to each composer's strengths and goals; composer participation in rehearsals and performances; pre-concert talks; filmed conversations between conductor and composer for presentation at the concert before new work performances; media interviews; a special composition project and mentoring of the Youth Orchestra members; visits to area elementary schools, high schools and colleges and adult education classes focused on new music.
