Augusta Read Thomas in residence with the Patel Conservatory Youth Orchestra
Augusta Read Thomas’ residency with the Patel Conservatory Youth Orchestra centered on the commission and orchestral premiere of a new ballet entitled Dream Threads. The orchestra, in collaboration with the Orlando Ballet School, commissioned Read Thomas and hosted two residency visits during their 2007-08 season.
The new work, Dream Threads runs 22 minutes and was inspired by a French fable about a boy who finds a magic thread that propels time forward.
In 2009, Thomas returns to Tampa Bay for the full premiere of Dream Threads, choreographed by Tom Gold, a regular soloist with the New York City Ballet. The ballet will be performed by the Orlando Ballet school and the Patel Conservatory Youth Orchestra.
