Ted Hearne will create a new work for the orchestra’s new music ensemble, Dogs of Desire. Dogs of Desire is a sixteen member chamber orchestra which plays only commissioned works by young American composers. Ted Hearne will create a work that pays tribute to the Five Nations of the Iroqouis, the native people whose world was destroyed by the gradual industrialization of New York State. The work will be part of the May 2010 annual American Music Festival concert entitled “Industry: Innovation in New York State.” The work will be presented twice in 2010, once a public concert and once for a student audience. It will then be performed twice in 2012.
