Zeena Parkins

The proposed work will be performed within three different modes: an ensemble of five players (“Dreamers”), a string quartet and live processing with sampling playback of the string quartet (“Ghost”). The overall structure of the piece will exist in a dream logic, always in flux and montage-like. It will be based on inter-relationships rather than a linear flow, creating sonic passageways between various members of the group. This piece is inspired by Walter Benjamin’s monumental work The Arcades Project.
