Meet the Composer

Eclipses, for percussion duo and tape, will draw its instrumentation from two works previously commissioned by the Meehan/Perkins Duo: Travel Diary by Paul Lansky and Table of Contents by David Lang. Eclipses takes its title from a section of the 1920 Andre Brenton/Phileppe Soupault book Le Champs magnetique. Eclipses will present an opportunity to explore more deeply the various ideas Supko has been developing for the synthesis of standard and non-standard tunings. Supko’s inspiration for this piece has its roots in both the experimental/conceptual tradition of the past decades, as well as in current vernacular music.
