The Arkansas State University Frank Ticheli Residency scheduled for November 11-15 is a multi-facted event that includes a performance and a number of interactive events, all of which will be free and open to the public. The public performance entitled, "The Music of Frank Ticheli" will be presented Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at 7:30 pm in the Arkansas State University Fowler Center's Riceland Hall. The concert will include performances by the ASU Choir, ASU Wind Ensemble, and student/faculty chamber ensembles. Special guest trombonist, Ron Barron, former principal for the Boston Pops Orchestra, will be present to perform Ticheli's Concertino. The composer will also present comments on each piece before it is performed. In addition to the concert, Ticheli will be involved in rehearsals, present a lecture on orchestration to an ASU theory class, will interact with ASU and other local student composers, will hold an interactive workshop with public school children and the ensembles performing his work, and will be the guest clinician in ASU's annual two-day Conductor's Colloquium.
