Meet the Composer

This competition aims to identify exceptional new talent and voices among younger, emerging Symphonic Wind Ensemble composers. Three finalists will travel to Orange County during the week of the competition and will receive feedback and career counseling Mr. Daugherty and Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble Director Michael Corrigan. Each finalist’s piece will be performed by the Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble, and the winner will be determined by audience vote. All three finalists will receive a recording of the performance. The first prize winner will receive a $5,000 commissioning honorarium for a new 10-minute work for the Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble to be premiered during the 2010-11 season.
