Meet the Composer

Commissioned score for a new dance work by choreographer Matthew Neenan.

"Vibrate is a two-movement work for string quintet. Both movements were inspired by the music of Rufus Wainwright. The first movement, entitled "Vibrate" is based on the song of the same name, featuring a habanera dance rhythm beneath a long-lined yearning melody. The second movement, "Oh What a World" is based on the song of the same name, featuring a perpetual motion accompaniment that drives the melodic lines forever forward into deeper and deeper development. Both movements are reflections on the nature of longing and love."
