"I was looking to compose a musical piece of varying textures that had an eye toward how the pianist moves. For instance, at times the performer reaches inside the piano in such a way that causes her to stand, then sit, then stand again in graceful moves. Kathy and I had talked for years about working together and this commission finally brought our discussions to fruition. Working with Kathy was a wonderful experience musically, artistically, personally and look forward to future projects with her."
